The person who said you can't buy happiness forgot about dogs!

Lessons we can learn from Dogs

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.

Allow the experience of fresh air & wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

When it's in their best interests, practise obedience.

Let other's know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps, stretch before rising.

Run, romp & play daily.

Eat with gusto & enthusiasm.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by & nuzzle gently.

Thrive on attention & let people touch you.

Avoid bitting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water & lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around & wag your entire body.

No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing & pout - run right back & make friends.

Delight in the simple joys of going for a long walk

Buster

Buster & Mariah

My biggest & proudest achievement is my present dog, Buster.

Buster came from a rescue home when he was 18 mths old. He'd been abused, was agressive to people & dogs, destructive, wasn't loving & feared children. It was heartbreaking to see.

I had to sign a disclaimer when i adopted Buster to say he would be muzzled for all walks, never let off a lead, get behaviour treatment & not allowed near children.

With lot's of love, patience & training by myself Buster no longer flinches or yelps as if he's going to be hit when you stoke his head because he thinks he's going to be hit, (that took 2 years), hides mobile phones in flower beds because the phone keeps ringing while you're out or drags the washing off the washing line all around the garden, digs holes under fences to play (?) with next doors rabbit, attacks the postman & post, gets into the kitchen & pulls all the rubbish out from the bin all across the living room, strip doors & windows of paint, pulls up carpets or does his 'business' in the house!

Buster is now a lovable, happy, well behaved, child friendly dog who is never muzzled, walks off the lead, loves to play football, walks with other dogs, eats out of childrens hands & thank goodness is no longer destructive so i still have my mobile phone!!
